Spring Pools Institute

Join us for this great training opportunity!
The workshop schedule is generally 9:00-5:00 daily, with flexibility for travel logistics (caravan), lunch/convenience stops, impromptu adjustments in the field (group preferences with the itinerary), and optional night forays, depending on weather and other factors.
This is an advanced level training for people with a serious interest in the subject; a certain fitness level is required for the intensive field itinerary. Mature youth with adult supervision may be permitted.
Plan to dress and supply for the field – the majority of our time will be spent afield, walking to and exploring forested wetland sites. Dress in layers for all weather, outfit your feet with hiking boots, knee-length rubber boots (hip waders may also be useful) and evening camp shoes; a daypack for your supplies (notebook, field guides, binoculars, snacks/drinks, personal effects/needs, extra wool socks, etc.) is advisable. Participants will be provided with a handout of recommended info. sources upon registration. Mike will provide an overview presentation on the first evening.
We may go out to dinner, if the group so chooses; there are options nearby. Plan to bring/pack your meals and snacks/drinks as needed.
Registration fee is $300. Lodging information will be provided upong registration. To register, send an email request to Mike at VAvernalpools@gmail.com and mail your check for the registration fee, made out to “Virginia Vernal Pools, LLC” with “SPI” in the memo. Space is limited to 14 participants.
